Field Trip to Old York

Our class had a great time visiting Old York yesterday.  We learned so much and did many different hands-on activities relating to our Colonial unit.

Everyone looked great in their costumes!

Textiles During Colonial Days

Carding the wool was a lot of work
Everyone had a chance to use the loom

We did a little stitching too

Colonial Games
The class played many games made of wood and most of the children said they were more fun than the electronic games we play today.

All the students had their silhouettes drawn

Colonial Cooking

 Churning the butter

We ate a delicious dinner.  We had stew, cornbread, biscuits, and apple crisp.

 One Room Schoolhouse

We read from their primers.

We did a little math on slates.

We even learned about some of the punishments given to students during the Colonial days.

I hope you enjoy these pictures of our day. Thank you so much to all of our chaperones!
