Following the Mushers - Iditarod

We started reading the book Black Star, Bright Dawn by Scott O'Dell this week for our next class read aloud.  It is a great story about a brave girl who ends up competing in the Iditarod in Alaska. The kids are really interested in learning about the Iditarod and the Togo book group will be learning about how this race was created in their book.

The real Iditarod race begins on Saturday and today the students each chose a musher to follow during the race.  We are having a class competition to see which students' musher will finish first.  We will be doing some other activities with the Iditarod over the next few weeks.
