We will be starting book groups this week, so students should look at their calendars to  see when their group is meeting.  The days marked with pages or chapters should be read before they get to school.

We have also started our tomato experiment and doing observations.  All students should record their plant graph daily.  Students who are drawing pictures for their longer observations must observe on three days in addition to the first one we did in class. They should do these observations on May 6, 10, and 13.  Students who are taking photographs of their plants must do four in addition to the first one we did in class.  They should do these observations on May 5, 8, 11, 14.

Concord Field Trip

We had a great day yesterday learning more about NH's government.

We met Justice Conboy and she told us what it's like to be a Supreme Court Justice.

We met Senator Nancy Stiles and Representative Patrick Abrami who represent Stratham citizens.

We saw where the Executive Council meets with Governor Maggie Hassan.

I hope your child shared what they learned on our trip.
Thank you to our parent chaperones.

Testing out Activotes

Our class is one of two classes trying a new technology tool with our Promethean Board.  The students each use an Activote clicker to answer multiple choice questions.

A question is shown on the board with choices for the answer.  Then each student presses the letter they think is with the correct answer.  Their name is highlighted to show they voted, but their answers are not shown on the board.

After the last student votes we see the class results.  This has been an easy way for me to see if we need to discuss a topic further when we are reviewing it.  I also get all the individual results saved on my computer, so I can see which students might need a little extra help with a topic.

The kids were so excited to find out what was in the "Mystery Case" and then to try them out.  It definitely helps keep all the kids actively engaged in reviews.
