Homework For a Week of December 22-23

*Students should be going on xtramath.org at least two afternoons during the week and one day over the weekend.  They should be going on extra if still on addition and subtraction.

Monday (Day 6):

Read for 15 minutes

Review Magnet review sheet from last week - quiz tomorrow (You can use notes and science notebook)

Tuesday (Day 1):
Read for at least 1 hour vacation (it can be broken into pieces)
Math - Xtramath.org over vacation

Spelling - Cut word cards and sort them (you don't need to write them down)

Tuesday (Day 2):
Read for 15 minutes
Math - Sheet 5-10
Spelling -Sort words and record groups on sheet of lined paper

Wednesday (Day 3):
Read for 15 minutes 

Math -  Review Sheet  (Test Friday)
Spelling - Speed Sort (record two times in your assignment books)

Thursday (Day 4):
Read for 15 minutes
Math- Review Sheet  (Test tomorrow)

Spelling - Blind Sort

Friday (Day 5):
Read for 30 minutes

Fun with Magnets

We have started our next unit in science this week on magnets and electricity.  We have done a few experiments this week with magnets.  Students explored ways to make the ring magnets "float" on their pencils today.  Students used what they learned about how opposite magnetic poles are attracted to each other and like poles repel.

Thanks for the Postcards

Thank you to everyone who sent our class postcards or has asked friends or relatives to send them.  We are off to a great start and have received 7 different states so far!  Please ask friends and relatives to write a few facts about the state, so we can learn about the country.  We have received quite a few blank cards which are great, but it is nice for the kids to learn a few facts from each one.
