4B Uses Activotes

Yesterday we spent part of our math class using the Promethean Board.  We practiced arranging large numbers in order from least to greatest.

Our class used the Activotes for the first time to review some of the topics we have been learning about in math with place value.  The students were very excited to try them.

First a question is displayed on the board and then the kids had to choose the correct answer and push the correct letter on their "clickers".

The class results are shown after the last student has entered their answer.

Then we talked about any questions which seemed to be a little more difficult for them.  There were cheers for our class when we got 100% correct on a question.

I also receive the results for each child, so I can see who needs a little more help in certain areas and which students understand the concepts well.

Using and signing up for xtramath.org

Thank you to everyone who has signed their child up for xtramath.org using the letter which was sent home last week with the code.  I am waiting to reset all the children's accounts until everyone has got theirs set up.  If you need another copy of the letter please have your child ask me or send me a note.  You will need to type in your email so you can receive your child's weekly report.  Hopefully we will be able to have them reset by the end of the week.

After the accounts have been reset I would like to have the kids go on at least two afternoons during the week and once over the weekend.  They can choose which nights will work best for them based on their schedules.  We will also be using the program at school to help practice our math facts too.  Fourth grade has many new math concepts where students need to know their facts, so I hope they will continue to work on them throughout the year.

There are many links on this blog for websites to practice math facts.  One of my favorite websites is Free Rice which donates 10 grains of rice for every correct answers.  The students can see their bowl filling with the rice and know they are helping others around the world who need food.

Please let me know if you have any questions.
