Studying Minerals

Over the last two weeks the students have performed 5 different tests on a set of 10 "mystery minerals".  They took all the information they gathered from the tests to determine what was the name of each of the minerals they were given.  The students have realized it is hard work to be a geologist.  We will continue this week working on our geology unit by learning about the three types of rocks and learning about how they are each formed.

Here are some pictures of students doing some of the mineral tests:

Our social studies curriculum for the year focuses on both New Hampshire and the regions of the United States.  If you or a family member travels or lives around the country our class would love to get a postcard that tells a little about the place.  We hope to get a least one postcard from each state by the end of the year.  We will be collecting them until the end of the school year.  Please help spread the word and thank you for your help with this project.

Postcards can be mailed to:
