Electricity Experiments

Here are some pictures taken earlier in April when we were studying electricity.  We built circuits using a battery, two wires and a flashlight bulb.  It was very exciting for the kids to see the light bulb light up when their circuit was complete.

REMEMBER FIELD TRIP TO THE PORTLAND SYMPHONY IS ON MONDAY!  STUDENTS SHOULD DRESS NICELY AND BRING A DISPOSABLE BAG LUNCH IF THEY DID NOT ORDER ONE FROM THE CAFETERIA.

WE ARE ALSO STARTING BOOK GROUPS THIS WEEK.  STUDENTS WILL RECEIVE A CALENDAR WITH THE DATES THEIR GROUP IS MEETING (MARKED WITH *).  THE CHAPTERS MUST BE READ BEFORE THEY GET TO SCHOOL ON THESE DAYS.

Chapter 8 Math Test

The chapter 8 math test had been postponed to Tuesday.  We will review a little more on Friday and Monday.

We have received many different postcards from around the United States.  We have collected 25 states.

Here are the states we are still looking for:

Busy Week Last Week and Upcoming Important Dates

Wow, we had a busy week in 4B last week.  We saw the fifth grade chorus and band concert, the second grade Wax Museum, and Marty Kelley came in to talk about how he writes and illustrates books.  Also, Meteorologist Kevin Skarupa from WMUR came in to speak with the fourth graders.  I heard many of the students saw us during the weather report on Friday morning.

Here are some upcoming important dates:
-  April 10 and 17 - Early Release days for Parent/Teacher conferences (students will be dismissed at
   12:50)
-  April 16 - PTO Meeting with Nurse Lilly speaking about the fourth and fifth grade human growth and
   development unit
- April 19 - Jump Rope for Heart (wear sneakers) and report cards go home
- April 22-26 - April Vacation
- April 29 - Portland Symphony - dress nice and bring a disposable bag lunch
- May 15 - Early Release for students - dismissed at 12:50
- June 3 - Grandparents' Lunch
- June 20 - last day if we don't have any more days off
